Anytime is a great time for organizations to organize a physical food or fund drive to benefit Project SHARE clients for Monthly Distributions.

Project SHARE welcomes Physical and Fund drives and has developed a specific program with  guidelines that will assist you in conducting a Drive. Please review carefully and share the guidelines below with those who will be engaged in your Drive.

All Drives are important to us. As you consider a physical food drive, a fund drive, or a combination Physical and Fund, it is quite easy to do a combination of the two at the same time. This can increase participation by your group’s members and provide more flexibility for them as they think how they would like to best support Project SHARE.  In addition to your physical Food Drive, some in your group may prefer to participate in our SHARE Shop, a Virtual Holiday Shopping Experience. No extra work for you . . . just provide the link to our giving page and you are good to go!  To get an idea, what that looks like, visit SHARE ShopWe do not fill orders in the traditional way. Your group’s “virtual food purchases” are donations that allow us to leverage our deeply discounted purchasing power. We are able track your group’s progress and provide ongoing reports during the drives duration.

Please know that your donations of food or funds, no matter how great or small, are appreciated by the struggling families we serve.

GUIDELINES:

1. All food drives must be registered with Project SHARE so that we can prepare for your donation.

Register online at Food/Fund Drive Registration Form or by phone at 717-249-7773.
Completing the form is necessary and the required information is essential to scheduling your food drive, tracking your progress, and acknowledging and communicating your final results. If you have further questions about the food drive process, please give Joe Kloza a call at 717-249-7773 X236.2. Project SHARE is unable to accept foods that are opened and that have “Expiration”, “Best By” or “Sell By” dates less than 2 months after your food drive is completed. Valuable time is lost when volunteers and staff have to sort and dispose of expired items. Please be sure to notify your team and make arrangements for outdated food to be disposed of prior to delivery.

4. Please make arrangements for a date & time for your food delivery. Project SHARE receives many scheduled deliveries during the week. By calling, we can plan for your arrival, assist you with unloading, record the weight of your food items and thank you for your donation.  We are able to accept deliveries, Tuesday through Thursday between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.  Once you have scheduled your time of delivery, donations can be delivered to the back of the Project SHARE warehouse at 5 North Orange St., Carlisle.

5. MOST NEEDED FOOD ITEMS include: Low sodium canned beans, low sodium canned vegetables, canned fruit (lite or in 100% natural juice), pantry staples, cooking oils, vinegars, condiments, spices, canned meats, peanut butter, whole grains (brown rice, oatmeal, whole wheat pasta, etc.), and healthy snack foods (nuts, popcorn, whole wheat crackers, etc.).

virtual food drive – SHARE SHOP:

Your group may participate in a dedicated Virtual Food Drive or in combination with your Physical Food Drive.  The SHARE SHOP provides another alternative for members of your group to participate in your Drive’s efforts.  At the SHARE SHOP you can shop virtually for all the holiday items needed in addition to sponsoring families, or choosing other healthy foods to help local families in need. The SHARE Shop Virtual Food Drive does not fill orders in the traditional way. Your order, based on retail prices, is a donation that allows us to leverage our deeply discounted purchasing power to source more healthy foods for the food insecure families we serve.

The process is easy so is check-out!  Even better, as part of the check-out process, your members can choose the name of the group they are participating with – providing us with the opportunity to track your progress and provide you with periodic reports if you wish.

Truck drivers / refused loads

Truckers are welcome to deliver donations from rejected loads.  We are grateful for the many drivers who have thought of Project SHARE when faced with a dilemma due to a delivery gone wrong.  You are welcome to call us at 717-249-7773 and speak to either “Asani”, “Darrell”, “Deb B” or “Bob” to arrange for drop off.   Over the years we have been blessed with many donations of this sort and accept them with gratitude.

Thank you for your assistance as we are “Nourishing Our Community…Awakening Hope!”
