Originally from Kentucky, Dorothy Bunch shown on the left, along with her volunteer friend Mikki Williams, has been a volunteer with Project Share for 4 years now. At the age of 94 Dorothy usually beats many of the staff to “work” arriving at the crack of dawn!
Dorothy worked in a defense plant during WWII which continued for 10 years. She also worked at General Electric in Lexington on the assembly lines. The best part of her life was the day her husband Ernest asked her to marry him. He was a basketball player who had just graduated from college. She called him by his nickname “Jeep”. He had a medal from WWII which he never spoke about. Together they had 2 daughters who are now 62 and 66 years of age, both teachers.
Dorothy was an avid bowler and loves to go to church. She brings a bright smile and a contagious personality with her every day. She is willing to help with any task from bagging and sorting to serving at distribution. Dorothy: "Being at Project SHARE (note Kentucky accent) with the love and giving from the people and volunteers and employees is such a pleasure. I love being here doing something for someone else, not just for myself." She has the true heart of a servant.
