At Project SHARE we can take $1 and stretch it almost 10 times! We are able to do this through a combination of efforts involving your contributions, business food donations, and our ability to buy food in bulk at discount prices. Here’s how we do it…
1. Food Drives and Collections
Many individuals host food drives and local churches collect the non-perishable food items we need most. We have specially marked collection cans to help you with your campaign. Also ask our front desk for the Food Drives and Collection envelope with tips and ideas to help you launch your drive on behalf of Project SHARE.
Local farmers allow us to glean their fields for fresh FREE produce every summer and fall.
3. Business Donations
Area businesses donate excess food by the pallet to our food pantry.
4. Buying in bulk
We can buy bulk food at deep discounts from other food banks and wholesalers like Central Pennsylvania Food Bank and Philabundance.
5. your Contributions
All these efforts, including your donations, help keep out costs as low as possible so that we can feed the more then 1,000 families that visit our warehouse each month. Project SHARE provides a cart full of groceries worth approximately $175, for only $15.
