What is gleaning? Gleaning is a biblical concept described several places in the Bible, including in the book of Ruth. It is when the growers purposely leave extras from the field behind for the poor to pick to feed their families. The food is free for those laborers and is considered to come from the generosity of the Lord.
More than 36 local farms and farm markets allow us to glean in their fields or donate fresh produce to us. Project SHARE volunteers and recipients work together to pick fruits and vegetables. The work is hard, but the rewards are many; all the food is FREE for our labor. The donated produce is then available at our Farm Stand.
Volunteer dates are available from June 20 to Oct. 29. Sign up and reserve a space.
