Project SHARE Farm to Table Dinner and Auction

Project SHARE brings its signature Farm to Table dinner and auction fundraising event to Whispering Pines on Sunday, September 30th, from 5:30 to 8:30 pm.  The event will feature craft beer, cider and wine paired with locally sourced, creative cuisine prepared by chefs from Carlisle and the surrounding region.

Dining will be accompanied by live music performed by Kevin Neidig.  Kevin combines the pureness of jazz with soulful renditions backed by original and classic lyricism.  Kevin’s virtuosity is rare as a singer, instrumentalist, and a songwriter.

The event will include a silent and live auction conducted by Cumberland County District Attorney M.L. “Skip” Ebert.  Featured items include a weekend stay at the luxurious Smith Steiner Bed & Breakfast, two tickets to Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet’s performance of The Nutcracker, a three-month household membership to the Carlisle YMCA, a gift certificate to Eagles Crossing Golf Club along with many other biddable and engaging items.

Last year’s event was a success in great part due to the delicious food and drink, including Chef Chris Heilig’s Shakedown BBQ beef tacos with his spicy sauces and delectable salmon ceviche.  “If you missed last year’s event you will want to make this a priority in late September as it coincides with the harvest and it promises to be just as tasty and as much fun,” said Nancy Mellerski, chair of the event.

This year, Chef Patrick Combs of Mountain Laurel Catering will be serving a variety of hors d’oeuvres.  Chef Maria Ntzanis of The Grazery will be roasting leg of lamb à la Grecque.  Chef Al Jurado of Salt and Pepper Catering and Bongiorno will be preparing ropa vieja, a beef and vegetable stew that is one of Cuba’s national dishes.  Chef Duane Miller of the Dickinson College Farm (and formerly California Café) will be preparing an Indian lamb curry dish, bhuna gosht.  Alan Tumblin of Castlerigg will pour wine, and Dave Hamilton of Burd’s Nest Brewing Company will supply craft beers.

This year’s Premier Sponsor is Life Guide Financial Advisors.  Giant Foods, Inc. serves as the event’s Gourmet Sponsor.  Harvest Sponsors include M&T Bank, UPMC Pinnacle and F&M Trust.  These donors and others are joining Project SHARE to ensure that this event continues to be a cornerstone for those gathering to enjoy the products of our local farmers, the tasty talents of our regional chefs and the crafty results from our wine, beer and cider entrepreneurs.

The Farm to Table dinner helps Project SHARE implement and execute its strategic goals as they continue to serve the community.  All proceeds from the event will support Project SHARE’s mission to meet the ever-changing need of neighbors in the community as they seek to free themselves from want.

Tickets for the dinner and auction are $75 and can be purchased on-line through Project SHARE’s website at or at the office at 5 N Orange Street, Carlisle.  Table seating for family, firm, organizational or other groups can be reserved.
